Just because it’s a rental doesn’t mean it has to suck.

“We need our rooms to align us to desirable versions of ourselves and to keep alive the important, evanescent sides of us.”

Alain de Botton, The Architecture of Happiness

What is a young man to do when faced with the excitement of furnishing his very first solo home? Call on his interior design mom for help, of course.

It helps when we know the client well. Taking into account his old world aesthetic leanings, and his youthful (only 20!) obsession with books, movies, music and anime art, the result is a vibe that exudes eclectic maturity with a soulful edge. Dark moody walls, aged leather sofa, hide rugs, sulky pink bedroom, the ubiquitous yet essential large screen TV and an ever expanding bookshelf - this is a bachelor pad without any garish rudeness.

A perfect alignment of person and place.
