Re-imagining Home

Sometimes the expectation gap between the promise of new beginnings and its lived experience is so wide, it demands we let go of the plan in order to reimagine the future.

The excitement of a new life in a new city was quickly replaced by the loss of the job and regret at having committed to a mortgage.

But in crisis is opportunity.

The penthouse they bought happened to be made up of three units, haphazardly opened up. Here was a simple and cost efficient way to split one unit back to its original stand alone one-bedroom apartment, while refreshing and consolidating the rest. The one -bedroom apartment could be rented out to help with the mortgage, and the remaining 3 bedroom apartment retained as a beautifully comfortable family home until it was time to sell.
